English Lyrics And Translation of ‘Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi’ Song
Mere Mehboob, Qayamat Hogi
My love, the end of the world will come.
Aaj Ruswa Teri Galiyon Mein Mohabbat Hogi
Today, love will be disgraced in Your streets.
Naam Niklega Tera Hi Lab Se
Your name alone will leave my lips
Jaan Jab Is Dil-e-Naakaam Se Rukhsat Hogi
When life finally departs from this hopeless heart.
Mere Mehboob…
My love…
Mere Sanam Ke Dar Se Agar
My love, if by chance,
Baad-e-Saba Ho Tera Guzar
The morning breeze happens to pass by Your doorstep,
Kehna Sitamgar, Kuchh Hai Khabar
Tell me, cruel one, have You heard anything?
Tera Naam Liya, Jab Tak Bhi Jiya
I took Your name for as long as I lived.
Ae Shama, Tera Parwaana
O flame, I was Your moth,
Jisse Ab Tak Tujhe Nafrat Hogi
The one You have hated all this time.
Aaj Ruswa Teri Galiyon Mein Mohabbat Hogi
Today, love will be disgraced in Your streets.
Mere Mehboob, Qayamat Hogi
My love, the end of the world will come.
Aaj Ruswa Teri Galiyon Mein Mohabbat Hogi
Today, love will be disgraced in Your streets.
Mere Mehboob…
My love…
Teri Gali Mein Aata, Sanam
I used to come to Your street, my love,
Nagma-e-Wafa Ka Gaata, Sanam
Singing songs of faithfulness, my love.
Tujhse Suna Na Jaata, Sanam
But You could not bear to listen to them, my love.
Phir Aaj Idhar Aaya Hoon Magar
Yet today, I have come here again
Yeh Kehne Main Deewana
To tell You, my love,
Khatm Bas Aaj Yeh Vehshat Hogi
That today, this madness will finally come to an end.
Aaj Ruswa Teri Galiyon Mein Mohabbat Hogi
Today, love will be disgraced in Your streets.
Mere Mehboob…
My love…
Meri Tarah Tu Aahein Bhare
May You sigh the way I do,
Tu Bhi Kisi Se Pyaar Kare
May You also fall in love with someone,
Aur Rahe Woh Tujhse Pare
And may that person remain far away from You.
Tune, O Sanam, Dhaaye Hain Sitam
O my love, You have inflicted so much pain upon me,
To Yeh Tu Bhool Na Jaana
So do not forget this:
Ki Na Tujhpe Bhi Inayat Hogi
That You, too, will not receive any mercy.
Aaj Ruswa Teri Galiyon Mein Mohabbat Hogi
Today, love will be disgraced in Your streets.
Mere Mehboob, Qayamat Hogi
My love, the end of the world will come.
Aaj Ruswa Teri Galiyon Mein Mohabbat Hogi
Today, love will be disgraced in Your streets.
Mere Mehboob…
My love…
Meri Nazrein To Gila Karti Hain
My eyes may complain,
Tere Dil Ko Bhi, Sanam, Tujhse Shikayat Hogi
But even Your heart, my love, will have complaints against You.
Mere Mehboob…
My love…
Special Note For ‘Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi- English Translation’
- “Qayamat hogi” is more literally “doomsday will come” or “there will be a catastrophe.” I used “the end of the world will come” for the emotional, poetic sense.
- “Ruswa” means disgraced, dishonoured, or defamed.
- “Baad-e-saba” means the morning breeze. It is not the speaker saying that he is the morning breeze.
- “Shama aur parwaana” is the classic flame-and-moth metaphor for intense, often painful love.
- “Teri gali mein aata” means “I used to come to Your street,” not necessarily front door.
- “Vehshat” means madness, anguish, or a state of wild emotional distress.
